People are finding their way to Yoga more and more to bring relief to imbalances and conditions that cannot always be resolved with conventional medicine. Yoga offers a very important tool kit to people who are looking for a more integrative approach to well being and health. This workshop is geared towards Yoga Teachers.

Saturday 14h00-18h00 Pancha Maya, Intro to Privates & Emotional Well Being

Yoga is inherently therapeutic because it doesn't deny any aspect. All layers are acknowledged: Physical, Energetic, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual. We will review the Pancha Maya Framework that is at the heart of Yoga. This framework recognizes that we are multidimensional beings. The Pancha Maya is from the Upanishads and you will learn how to apply it to working with privates.
The second part of the session we will explore emotional well being. There is a range of responses we have to life stressors and often fall somewhere on the spectrum between Anxiety and Depression. Currently, rates for anxiety and depression are on the rise. We have one of the most powerful ways to manage ourselves to compliment the Pyschotherapy work many do, it is using movement and breath work. We will share simple tools to empower the individual to regain their center.
Lecture, Experience & Discussion

Sunday 10h00 - 14h00 Therapeutic Yoga Lab: Lower Back Pain & Herniated Disks, Rotator Cuffs and Labrum Tears

A few months ago, a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine stated that yoga was just as good as physical therapy for reducing pain and increasing mobility for the lower back. Yoga has been effective in dealing with many imbalance for hundreds of years and with the studies proving quantitatively the benefits of Yoga, more and more people are turning towards yoga to deal with chronic and acute conditions. We will look at these major areas of focus and share an overview of the anatomy and how to utilize movement and breath work to support the individual's journey in finding ease and well being. This Lab will be exploratory and give you a chance to work with others. These areas of focus (Lower Back/Herniation/Rotator Cuffs/Labrum Tears) are also some of the highest growing injury areas in physically orientated Yoga classes. We will offer time for Q & A as well.

Jafar Alexander

Yin Yoga Masterclass with Jafar every Wednesday at 18h30 starting 26 July

Entering into the subtler realms of our practice through accessing our connective tissue and fascia. Silence and stillness are the main components of this practice.
Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

Price: 18 Euros per masterclass

Workshops & Masterclasses with Jafar Alexander (E-RYT 500)

We are honoured to welcome our BelovedYoga teacher and director Jafar Alexander at Azure Yoga this April. Jafar’s deep understanding of the yogic tradition and devotion to study makes him a multi-dimensional teacher, able to weave stories with expert sequencing and philosophical inquiry — playfully and thoughtfully — in a single asana.  He likes to call this method “Yogasanas” — keeping the yoga in the asana! He is known for creating powerful sequences with the ability to layer both the philosophy of Yoga with the wisdom of breath and movement.

Breath, move, and find your way to silence. Yoga is yoga - no need to complicate it; it's quite simple. Everything you need to know is right her...Atha.

10h30 – 13h30 Workshop The Art of Transitions with Jafar Alexander 3 hours

How do we move from a pose to pose in a class while creating a meaningful experience? One of the most important tools you have as a Yoga Teacher, is the intelligence of your transitions and intention. Part of maturing the Yoga practice is in the art of the transition, which Jafar believes is the essence of vinyasa. Creating a powerful sequence will depend on your ability to layer both the philosophy of Yoga with the wisdom of breath and movement. The morning will be a blend of lecture and experiential teaching practice. If you are interested in teaching complex asanas and offerig layers to the class experience for yourself as a practitioner and as a Yoga Teacher, then this is the workshop that will give you the tools and confidence.

Price: 40 Euros

Saturday 22 April

10h30 – 13h30 Asana Lab: Maintain Steadiness and Ease - While Keeping Your Balance 3 hours

We are honoured to welcome Jafar from the United States, for a morning of exploring five powerful asanas that both challenge and strengthen our focus and balance when faced with the fear of falling. In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which form the philosophical and ethical foundation for the yoga we practice today, this is expressed in the Sanskrit phrase ‘Sthira Sukha Asanam'; ‘may the seat embody steadiness and ease”. This session will explore a selection of standing and arm balances: 5 asana your community would like to explore?

Price: 40 Euros

15h00 – 18h00 "Exploring the Subtle Realm” 3 hours

This workshop explores the tools of Pranayam (breath exploration), Pratyahara (repurposing of senses), and Dharana (intense focus). These tools have allowed yoga practitioners to dive into the intangible world of themselves for generations. They are what set the stage for meditation to take place. If you have a mediation practice, or are looking to build one, this is the workshop for you. We will examine the literary texts that outline this elusive practice, and then put it into action. It is about finding the appropriate doorway for each practitioner. This workshop seeks to empower each practitioner with a few ways to find their own meditative practice. So come explore the subtle realms of your practice.

Price 40 Euros.
